Why do I see different voices?

Voices come from your operating system and browser. Chrome on Windows will offer different voices than Safari on macOS. Some browsers load voices asynchronously.

Can I adjust the reading speed?

Yes. The Rate slider lets you go from 0.5× (half speed) up to 2.0× (double speed). The default is 1.0×.

Is my text sent to any server?

No. Speech synthesis runs entirely in your browser using built-in OS voices. Your text never leaves your device.
