About BoxTool

BoxTool exists to make the small, daily computing tasks easier: converting units, generating a QR code, formatting some JSON, splitting a PDF. We pick tools by what people actually search for, build them well, and explain each one in plain English.

Who runs BoxTool

BoxTool is designed, built, and maintained by one independent software developer based in South Korea. There is no company or editorial team behind it: the same person writes the tools, the guides, and the replies to your email. It is not a content farm: every tool on this site was written by hand, one at a time, and every guide that accompanies a tool was written after actually using that tool and verifying what it does.

How this site is built and maintained

Each tool starts as a real problem someone searches for. We implement it in plain client-side JavaScript so it runs entirely in your browser, then check its output against published formulas, reference implementations, or authoritative sources before it goes live.

• Every tool is exercised before release. We load each page, run the tool with realistic inputs, and confirm the result — not just that the page renders.
• The whole catalog is re-tested in an automated browser sweep. A script opens every tool page in a headless browser, feeds it realistic input, and flags any page that throws an error or produces no output, so regressions are caught by the sweep rather than by visitors.
• Guides state real limitations. When a tool has a constraint — an offline data snapshot, a browser-specific behavior, a precision limit — the guide on that page says so plainly instead of overselling.

Our principles

• Privacy by default. Almost every tool runs in your browser — we never see your data.
• No signup. Open, click, done.
• Speed. Pages are server-rendered HTML with one stylesheet and no framework bundle to download. The scripts are small: Alpine.js, the site's own common and quick-find scripts, the tool itself, plus the page-view counter and the ad loader described in the privacy policy.
• Accuracy. Our calculators use published formulas, with sources cited where it matters.

Corrections

If a tool gives you a result that looks wrong, we want to know. Write to us via the contact page with the tool name and the input you used; we reproduce the report, fix the tool, and update its guide to match.

How we pay the bills

Google AdSense pays for hosting and development. We never sell user data — we couldn't, because we don't have any.
