Where do the facts come from?

Facts are fetched in real time from the Numbers API (numbersapi.com), a free public API that returns interesting facts about numbers. The API covers trivia, mathematical properties, historical years, and calendar dates. No API key is required.

What types of numbers are supported?

The Numbers API works with integers. Negative numbers and zero are supported for some fact types. Very large integers may return generic facts. Decimals are not supported — enter whole numbers only.

What does the Date tab show?

The Date tab interprets your number as the nth day of the year and returns a historical fact about that calendar date. For example, 1 maps to January 1, 32 maps to February 1, and 365 maps to December 31. Numbers above 365 will not return a date fact.

Why does the tool sometimes show 'no fact available'?

The Numbers API has a finite database. For some numbers and fact types no entry exists yet. The API returns a default 'not found' message in those cases. Try a different number or switch to another tab where a fact may exist.

Number Trivia connects to the free Numbers API to surface surprising facts about any integer you enter. Type a number — or click Random for a surprise — and explore four categories of facts in separate tabs. Trivia reveals quirky cultural and historical connections. Math explains remarkable properties of the number in mathematics. Year describes what happened in that year in history. Date treats the number as a day of the year (e.g. 42 = February 11) and shares what occurred on that date. A scrollable history panel keeps track of every number you have looked up in the current session, so you can revisit favourites without retyping.
