What is the difference between keyCode and code?

keyCode is a legacy numeric property that represents the physical key (e.g. 65 for 'A'). The code property is a modern string that identifies the physical key regardless of modifiers (e.g. 'KeyA'). The key property returns the logical character value (e.g. 'a' or 'A' depending on Shift).

Why is keyCode deprecated?

The keyCode, charCode, and which properties are considered legacy because they have inconsistent behavior across browsers and keyboard layouts. Modern code should use the key and code properties from the KeyboardEvent interface.

What does the location value mean?

The location property indicates where the key is on the keyboard: 0 = standard, 1 = left side (left Shift, left Ctrl), 2 = right side, 3 = numpad. This helps distinguish left vs. right modifier keys.
